A car in Turkey is not a basic necessity, but something special. The prices of cars here are astronomical. The reason is the highest excise duties and taxes. Accordingly, the customs office carefully monitors that no one tries to “cheat” the system and import a car without excise taxes.
Therefore, a large number of restrictions are imposed on the use of cars with foreign license plates. For example:
If you do not take the car out of Turkey within the specified period – you will pay a fine of many thousands (in euros).
No one can use your car if you leave Turkey.
Permit to use a car in Turkey must be renewed.
You can drive on the roads of Turkey and not even notice that you passed on a toll road. If the fine is not paid on time, its amount is multiplied by five.
