A photo shoot by the sea is just a dream! The sea in Antalya is very colorful. It’s enough to choose the right clothes, accessories, makeup, and we get a very juicy, saturated pictures!
The Mediterranean Sea is more than just seawater. There is a wide variety of locations.
As I only started photographing at sea in Antalya in the summer of 2022, I don’t have many photos in this section yet. But I have a wast experience shooting outdoors. So in order to familiarise yourself with my level of professionalism, I also ask you to check out other sections of my portfolio.
What time of day to do a sea photo shoot
As it was said above, the sea in Antalya is very beautiful. It’s nice to have a photo shoot here. However, the problem is the large number of tourists and vacationers. Therefore, we usually either come to the photo shoot early in the morning (by sunrise) or work in the off-season (September-May).
Sunrise and sunset are also good for photo shoots because the sun is not yet so harsh and does not create harsh shadows. And the sky at these hours can be divinely beautiful.
If we need a beautiful blue sea, then the day time is better suited for a photo shoot. However, the sun is very harsh during the day and can create unsightly shadows. To avoid shadows, it is better to photograph when the model is facing the sun. But in this case the sun “cuts” the model’s eyes and the model squints. Besides, summer days in Antalya are very hot and it will be hard to work during the day! Therefore, I still recommend my clients to choose sunrise or sunset time for their photo shoots.
Locations for sea photoshoots
The Mediterranean Sea is more than just seawater. There are many places to visit including colourful beaches, massive cliffs, crashing waves, man-made structures and a sun so different at sunrise, sunset and throughout the day. Therefore, there are many possibilities for sea photoshooting in terms of time of day, locations, clothings, props and accessories, etc.
I will pick locations based on your preferences and you and I will choose the best one for your photoshoot.
Water temperature
You should remember that the sea in Antalya is very warm. In summer its temperature reaches 26-28°C. A photo shoot in such water can be endlessly long.
Even today (January 2024), as I edit this text, the water temperature in the Mediterranean Sea near the coast of Antalya is 21°C. And this is in deep winter, when so called “baptismal frosts” are expected in Eastern Europe! 🙂
Of course, I don’t recommend having a winter photo shoot at the sea. Although in some other seas the water temperature of 21°C may already be considered as warm, it is hardly possible to make a full-fledged photo session in it. Unless you’re a very hardened person.
Clothing & Accessories
