Once you have entered Turkey by car, you are given a permit to use it in the customs territory of Turkey for a period of 90 days. But I’m a photographer. And a car is just as important to me as air! So, I found out and am sharing with you how you can extend the use of a car in Turkey to 2 years!
So, if you want to use the car longer, you definitely need to renew your permit. This can only be done with a residence permit.
If you have already received a residence permit, you need to come with the following documents to the customs office:
- Загранпаспорт правообладателя разрешения (физлица, которое ввозило автомобиль в Турцию).
- Техпаспорт на автомобиль.
- ВНЖ (кимлик, икамет).
- Страховку.
Where to go for this?
With these documents, you will be able to extend the vehicle permit for the period specified in your residence permit, but not more than 730 days from the date of importation of the car. (So stated in paragraph (5)(c) of paragraph (1) of Article 20 in Decision No. 2009/15481 on the application of certain articles of the Customs Act No. 4458).
There are two customs offices in Antalya. One is at the airport, the other at the port in Liman. I highly recommend going to Liman, as the customs there are more professional. For example, at the customs office at the airport we were unable to renew our car’s permit, but the customs office at the port did it in 10 minutes.
