Either the customs officer forgot to put a mark, or they do not put them for cars belonging to legal entities. We were told that there might be less of a line at the airport, so we put our skis there.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The customs officer, constantly wiping his hands with antiseptic, told us that the company car was registered for 90 days and could not be extended. Only cars owned by individuals can be renewed. Moreover, he said that before it was 30 days and he does not know why it suddenly became 90 days.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the law tells us<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">After that, when we returned home, we began to study Turkish law.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">We did not find such a restriction for cars of legal entities in the legislation.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Article 16, subparagraph (a), paragraph (1) of Turkish Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 2009\/15481<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lexpera.com.tr\/mevzuat\/bakanlar-kurulu-kararlari\/4458-sayili-gumruk-kanununun-bazi-maddelerinin-uygulanmasi-hakkinda-karar-2009-15481\" class=\"ek-link\">on the application of certain articles of the Turkish Customs Law No. 4458<\/a>, states that a permit shall be issued:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\">a) If the vehicles are registered <strong>in the name of a person residing outside the Customs Territory of Turkey<\/strong> and outside this zone, or it is documented that they belong <strong>to a person residing outside the Customs Territory of Turkey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>And article 3(1)(v) of the same document states that:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\">v) A person residing outside the customs territory of Turkey:<br\/>A natural person residing outside the customs territory of Turkey in the usual situation, <strong>or a legal entity with a registered office outside the customs territory of Turkey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Ie. In fact, Turkish law explicitly permits the importation of company cars for the period specified in subparagraph (c) of paragraph 1) of Article 20 of the same document, namely 24 months.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">However, we did find a clarification, which stated that the period of importation of a car with foreign license plates, which is registered to a legal entity, is 90 days and cannot be extended. Since we could not find references to the legislation either in the explanations or on Google&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Moreover, in the same document, we also found question number 38 of the customs clarification, which explicitly states that:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\"><strong>\n  <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\">Question 38:<\/span>\n<\/strong> Is it possible to import a rental car? How long does the permit last?  <br\/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" class=\"ek-underline\">\n  <strong>Answer:<\/strong>\n<\/span> Persons residing outside the customs territory of Turkey <strong>are allowed to import vehicles on a rental basis<\/strong>. Depending on the nationality and residence of the person, the period of permission to import vehicles taken on lease <strong>may not exceed the period specified in the lease agreement, but in any case, it must not exceed 730 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">In other words, it turns out that, as a last resort, we can conclude a lease agreement with our company and submit it to customs.
