What’s unique about it?
The district of Deşemealtı, Antalya province is truly a unique place. I don’t know if there are similar places anywhere else in the world?
The uniqueness lies in the fact that here every year local carpet-makers lay out carpets right in the field and leave them under the scorching Anatolian sun.
This is done to make the handmade rug look as much like an antique as possible. The sun burns the rich colors of the natural dyes that were used in the production of the carpet. Under the sun, the color of the carpet takes on pastel tones. It is also believed that the Antalya sun kills germs.
The carpets are spread over a huge field and can cover several hectares. This creates a beautiful and unusual entourage for our photo shoot.
Carpet photo shoot
A huge plus is that rug moguls don’t charge money for photo shoots with Deshemealta rugs!
Also, carpets can be touched, you can walk on them with your feet, animals are let on them. After all, the task of the masters is not only to change the color of the carpet, but also to age it. (In some parts of Turkey, such as Demirci, carpets are laid on the road for cars to drive on.)
Therefore, photo shoots here are held in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. We’re not afraid to trample carpets or get them dirty.
